At first glance, this may look like a simple floral vintage rug—but it is in fact a beautiful reflection of the classic French Goblen style. Because it echoes a historically celebrated textile tradition, it holds a special place in my personal collection.

Unlike pieces woven for sale, this rug was created to be used and cherished. That’s why its wool quality, pile height, and knot density are exceptionally high. The natural, undyed fleece of the sheep forms the base, while touches of plant-dyed yarn add depth. Although it is around 50 years old, the weaver never brought herself to use it, preserving it in remarkable condition. The details suggest it was likely woven by a young village bride, pouring her hopes and quiet dreams into every knot.
